The Ultimate Goal
“In the Middle Ages, they had guillotines, stretch racks,
whips and chains. Nowadays, we have a much more effective torture device called
the bathroom scale.” - Stephen Phillips
I was really struggling this week with what to write
about. I had a few ideas floating around
in my head, but none of them seemed to do anything for me. Then I read everyone’s posts and one of them
stood out for me. I knew I had my topic.
Kim at Just A Thought reached a place
this week that I think all of us are really striving for; she finally likes the
way she looks. She has not reached her
stated goal weight, but as she puts it, “…if I am happy, why push myself toward
a goal that was set when I was so unhappy with my body that I didn't think I
could ever be satisfied with the way I looked.”
That’s it in a nutshell, folks. This weight loss challenge is about so much
more than weight loss. While the number
on the scale is usually our primary focus, it should not be our ultimate
goal. Shedding pounds is really just a
means to an end. Our ultimate goal
should be HAPPINESS! Every single one of
us should at some point be able to look in the mirror and say, “This is
it! This is where I want to be!” And you should be able to say that regardless
of what your scale says. You may not be
there yet, but you will get there.
So this week, I want you to take your focus off the number
on the scale. O.K., you can keep a little
focus on the number, but my point is, I want you to come up with some other
things that you have been noticing as a result of your journey. Can you work out more? Are you able to tell more accurately what a serving
size is? Are you losing inches? Do you have more energy? Like Kim, can you try on clothes and be happy
with who’s looking back at you? In your
posts next Tuesday, tell us about the “non-number” things that are happening
with you.
Have a wonderful week, everyone! See you on Tuesday!
Great points Thea. Thanks for the reminder. We do tend to get all wrapped up in the number don't we! :)

Thank you so much for the support. I pray that each of you comes to a place where you are truly happy where you are.
